GREEN TOUR

Hong Kong covers more than 1,000 sq km with over 70% of it rural with these areas consisting of rolling hills and mountains, coastal landscapes, rock formation, sea views and distinctive outlying islands.  Now, I am specially designed for you to fully experience the beauty and serenity of Hong Kong's natural landscape.

GEOPARK - SAI KUNG'S VOLCANIC ROCK REGION
Sai Kung, known as the 'Back Garden of Hong Kong', is a picturesque and very popular holiday spot with the locals.  A visit to this area should include a series of hexagonal volcanic columns whose composition differs significantly from the rock colums elsewhere in the world.  Sai Kung's rock columns are rarely matched elsewhere in therms of scale and composition!  You can explore some of the world's most unique volcanic columns.

I would like to introduce  HIGH LAND, where probabl the easiest accessible location to view the varied geographical phenomena in the Geopark.  Here the tidy hexagonal volcanic columns are highly visible along the island's coasts and the rock column wall near the East Dam of High Reservoir has been described as a 'Natural Hexagonal Column Mural'.  You can get a close-up view of various geographical phenomena including faults, folds, twisted columns and dyke intrusions.

Po Pin Chau, just off the East Dam of the High Island Reservoir also exhibits an interesting geological landscape, having been split in half by natural forces and transformed into colossal rock columns!  the Tai Long Wan coast near the East Dam of High Island Reservoir is a coastal landform of volcanic rocks that are frequently and justifiably accorded pride of place among 'Hong Kong's Top Ten Natural Attractions.'  A must-visit!

HOW TO GET THERE
You can get to the High Island via Section 1 & 2 of the MacLehose Trail.

Hiking Trails Sections 1 & 2 of the MacLehose Trail where you can marvel at the eye-catching natural wonders of Hong Kong, as it loop around the entire Sai Kung Peninsula providing you with some of Hong Kong's remotest, wildest and best outdoors scenery you could ever imagine.  It includes three of Hong Kong's '10 Best Scenic Sites', namely Sai Wan at Tai Long Wan, high Island Reservoir and Long Ke Wan.  The magnificant hexagonal columns along with the High Island coast, are the largest and most expansive in the world and part of the new Hong Kong National Geopark.  Natural wonders like these are sure to leave you dazzled!
